Stryker Brings Apple Vision Pro to Hip Arthroscopy

The company reported the first procedure (a hip arthroscopy) using its SportSuite Vision on Apple Vision Pro.

Stryker announced completion of the first surgical procedure using SportSuite Vision on Apple Vision Pro, which earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) de novo authorization on July 17.

The first procedure, a hip arthroscopy, was completed at Duke Health by Chad Mather III, MD, MBA.

SportSuite Vision overlays digital content within the surgeon’s field of view, combining physical OR objects with arthroscopic images, HipCheck, HipMap, and CT data. The technology is designed to reduce reliance on multiple OR monitors and support a more streamlined, ergonomic workflow.

According to the company, it’s the first application authorized by the FDA for intraoperative use with Apple Vision pro and marks a new milestone for spatial computing in the OR.

Earlier today, Stryker revealed that it’s entered a deal to acquire ZuriMED, a privately held developer of the FiberLocker system, which is a novel approach to rotator cuff augmentation with more biomechanical strength to address a key clinical failure mode.
